Bedrock Builders entry at Park Place in Sagamore
Interest rates are low, tax credits are weeks away from expiring and the selection is great – so now is an excellent time to look at your home buying options! Homes in all price ranges and on all sides of town will be open to tour on April 10, 11, 17 and 18 from noon to 6 p.m.
All homes with photos, descriptions and driving directions are online at the event website, www.ParadeofHomesIndy.com. In addition to homes to tour, the website offers a directory of homebuilders who do not currently have homes to tour but are ready to home build the home of your dreams. New to this year’s Parade, remodeler members of the association created a virtual showcase of home transformations at the event website. Also online is a page dedicated to energy saving tips and advice for everyone on how to save money on their utility costs.
The Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis Parade of Homes is sponsored by Indianapolis Power & Light Co. and Lockhart Cadillac with supporting sponsorship from Citizens Gas and Vectren Energy Delivery.
In total 65 new homes crafted by Central Indiana’s premier custom and production homebuilders will be open to tour. Three developer members also participate in the tour with information on lot availability in new subdivisions across the nine-county area.
“It is an area-wide open house, Indy’s Biggest Open House,” said Stacy O’Gara, BAGI director of events. “The Parade includes production and custom homes in a variety of price ranges. Some of the homes may be fully decorated and landscaped, others may be left for the buyer to finish themselves, it just depends how far along each builder is in the process. Every home is for sale, with the exception of builders’ models which may not be available for immediate sale.”
All homes in the Parade of Homes have been built by Association members who agree to adhere to the Quality Assurance Builder Standards, a detailed set of building standards the association’s members have adopted.
Rick Schmadeke of Westwind Custom Homes serves as 2010 chairman of the event.

Last weekend for Parade of Homes
Posted by: | CommentsLast weekend to tour the 73 new homes and new home communities in the Parade. All details including photos, descriptions, printable maps and driving directions online at www.ParadeofHomesIndy.com. Last weekend resulted in at least three sales. Remember that the federal $8000 tax credit does not have to be repaid and recent announcements make it possible for first time buyers to use that money as a downpayment (www.federalhousingtaxcredit.com).
Thanks for Indianapolis Power and Light for their Parade sponsorship.
Indy’s Biggest Open House starts June 6 – Parade of Homes 2009
Posted by: | Comments(RD – I’ve spent the better part of the last ten days compiling information on the homes in this year’s Parade. Wide variety of homes – from first time buyers, to low maintenance homes, to show stopping multi million dollar estates. All since of town – Westfield, Greenfield, Franklin, Danville. The website is up but not with all the features. I’ll finish it when I get back from my son’s orientation at Ball State.)
Interest rates are low, tax credits are available and the selection is great – so now is an excellent time to buy a new home!
This year’s Parade of Homes, sponsored by Indianapolis Power & Light Co., is scheduled for June 6,7, 13 and 14. This is a prime time to look for a new home, one that’s been built by a member of the Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis.
In total over 70 new homes crafted by Central Indiana’s premier custom and production homebuilders will be open to tour. Developer members also participate in the tour with information on lot availability in new subdivisions across the nine-county area.
“It is an area-wide open house, Indy’s Biggest Open House,” said Stacy O’Gara, BAGI director of membership and events.
“New home construction is critical to the vitality of the community that IPL serves so we are proud to sponsor the BAGI Parade of Homes again this year,” said Greg Fennig, IPL’s Vice President of Supply Chain and Public Affairs. “We hope that as our customers make their new home purchase decisions they also consider the energy efficiency of the homes they buy and consider purchasing Energy Star appliances.”
Parade homes are open from noon to 6 p.m. each day. There is no charge to attend. Maps and information about all the homes will be available online at www.ParadeofHomesIndy.com.
Rick Schmadeke of Westwind Custom Homes serves as 2009 chairman of the event.

Take your time and tour the New Home Tour at The Village of WestClay
Posted by: | CommentsHad a good time yesterday meeting all the folks who came out to see the gorgeous homes on the New Home Tour at The Village of WestClay in Carmel. One thing that seemed to surprise folks was that you do not need to tour all nine homes in one day – your ticket is good for one visit to each home but can be used over multiple days.
The show runs through May 3 with weekday hours from 4 to 9 p.m. and weekend hours from Noon to 6 p.m.
Other tips – the homes are located throughout the Village – some close enough to each other to walk to but in general you’ll be driving from spot to spot.
Also, you can tour in any order. My recommendation is to tour backwards from 9 down to 1.
And when you stop by the Meeting House ticket center, see what special Village businesses are offering. Chappies had a free ice cream with purchase this weekend – yum!
PS – Had to chuckle when one mom said her young daughter begged to go to the tour – maybe a future architect or designer?!
